Bicycle Tour
Canals & Bridges
Amsterdam is renowned for its picturesque canals and canal houses. There are thousands of canal houses in the city, but only a few of these are open to the public. This bicycle tour takes you along the canals and bridges of the historic city centre and leads you to the seven canal house museums, where you can take a look behind the magnificent facades of these 17th-, 18th- and 19th-century houses of the rich and (historically) famous. The canal museums are houses with a history, where you will find sumptuously laid tables, elegant reception rooms, attractively designed gardens, grand staircases, Rembrandt's studio and a chapel in an attic.
The bicycle tour costs only € 1,00 and is available at MacBike Bicycle Rental in Amsterdam.
Canal Company
The best way to discover Amsterdam is by water. And Canal Company has a lot to offer in that department. You can discover the city on a Canal Bike, or hop on a Canal Bus. Canal Company also offers more than 50 different programmes for groups.
Canal Bus provides the ideal transport along the canals of Amsterdam. The boats operate a regular service along the canals on three routes. The 14 stops are located near the major museums, attractions and shopping centres. You can hop on and hop off as often as you like. On board there is a commentary providing interesting information about Amsterdam.
Canal Bus also offers a number of combi-tickets to help make your stay in Amsterdam even more fun and easy. With a combi-ticket you get a reduction on museums and attractions and you only have to pay once.
The Rembrandt House Museum can be reached by all three Canal Bus routes.
